Lights for Literacy:
Submission for Coast Reporter, sent February 14, 2008
Members of the Gibsons & District Library Foundation gathered at the library on February 13, 2008 to celebrate
with Chief Librarian Michelle Southam the purchase of large print and audio books purchased with the cheque of $1,450
which was raised under the Foundation's Lights for Literacy campaign. The Lights for Literacy invited local
residents to change the colour of the lights in the library window during the past holiday season. "We would like
to thank all those who contributed to this gift of lasting value and it is a project we would like to see become an
annual winter event," said Lynda Coote, Chairperson of the Foundation. Further information on the Gibsons &
District Library Foundation can be found at www.gibsonslibraryfoundation.org.

Harry Potter Event 2007
Children and adults gathered excitedly at the Gibsons & District Library early on Saturday morning in the hope they would be one of the lucky winners of the latest Harry Potter novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Library Staff ensured everything was legal and organized while Lynda Coote, Chair, Library Foundation and Mayor Barry Janyk were on hand to randomly pick out the lucky recipients. Even the rain didn't dampen the participation and enthusiasm!
Some of the lucky winners (a total of 50 books were given away):
